Hideki wakes up to discover he really now owns a Persocom~!
Shinbo comes over and realizes what Hideki was hiding the other night. He tries (stress tries) to help Hideki by seeing if Chi has any DATA or PCN numbers. When he can't find any (After Sumomo has crashed from trying) he sends Hideki and Chi to Minorus house. Minoru too is unsuccesful, but Yuzuki has given info that Chi has DATA just hidden.
Yoko Okino is one of the brightest stars in the entertainment industry. But her previously spotless record takes a hit as a body is discovered in her penthouse apartment. With no other suspects to be found and all clues pointing to the grief stricken star, Conan and Richard, Yoko's number one fan, struggle to find the one clue that would clear the idol's name. Chii isn't feeling like herself and basically collapses in Hideki's apartment. He gets an adapter from Shinbo but unfortunately can't recharge Chii due to the fact that he never paid his electric bill.
With Hideki broke, Chii decides that she wants to find a job to get money to give to Hideki. Hideki has little objection, but stipulates that Chii must find a "good job" to work at. Unfortunately for Chii, someone with a very bad job for Chii, finds her while she's out and tells her the job he has on offer is a "very good job". After Chii's reboot button is pushed, she escapes the 'peep show' room and is jumping around the city disabling all persocoms. She finally exhausts herself and Hideki catches her before she falls off a railing. Chii gets a job at a bakery having a five year anniversary thanks to Hideki. The manager offers Chii a permanent job which she accepts only if Hideki allows it. She trys to give Hideki her payment but he refuses telling her that since she worked and earned it, it belongs to her and for her to buy her favorite things (whatever they may be). Sumomo informs Shinbo of an excessive amount of data collected and asks what could be deleted. While offering different choices, Shinbo reminisces of the experiences of said deletable data. Shinbo then decides to keep everything and just buy Sumomo more memory. While Chii goes shopping for a gift for Hideki, Shimbo and Hideki go out to the bathhouse. Hideki learns that persocoms need to be bathed too but Hideki can't afford the bathing software. So Hideki just needs to teach Chii how to bathe. Riiight no problem. Hideki goes on his very first date, and it's with Yumi! In the meantime Chii reads more of the picture book series and meets up in a vision with her former self. Hideki hears an urban legend about a mistress who was murdered on a dark, gloomy day in a corner apartment room where the lights were blinking. Then as he is walking home he notices his own apartment complex has a mysterious corner room where the light is blinking on a dark, gloomy day. Then more and more similarities to the legend happen and Hideki gets really paranoid. Chii and friends want to help out but will it be too late? Yumi's dad loans Hideki his DVD player, and tells him of a DVD sale coming up. Hoping to get some mature videos, Hideki embarrassingly meets Minoru and sis instead, who offer him a fantasy multiplayer Internet game (Brave Quest Online) that persocoms can play too. Hideki thinks this would be fun to play with Chi. But Hideki knows nothing about hooking up to the internet! Fortunately Shimbo helps him out. Now everyone's logged on, except for Chi; she's missing (in the game)! Oh no, what's Hideki going to do now? Blindly run through the game looking for her of course! Hideki gets his report card (straight D's) and vows to study hard for the summer but in the meantime he's been invited to hang out at Minoru's vacation beach home that weekend with the entire gang, which includes Shimbo, Chi, Yumi, Ms. Hibiya, Ms. Shimizu, Sumomo, Minoru, Yuzuki, and all of Minoru's persocomms. They generally have a great time wading around, hanging out, playing volleyball. Hideki is somewhat reluctant to swim out in the ocean because he can't swim. Ms. Shimizu promises a "private lesson" that night but it turns out to be literally a private study group with her, Shimbo and Hideki. The next day Hideki struggles with the concept of putting persocomm lotion on Chi. The highlight of the trip was when Hideki notices dolphins out in the ocean. Minoru offers everyone a ride on his private boat for a closer look. On board, Chi falls overboard and Hideki jumps in to rescue her but since he can't swim he just sinks, and it's revealed that Chi ends up rescuing him. Ah, what an adventurous day and summer. Unfortunately Hideki's grades don't improve at all as he gets some E's. It's still a hot summer, and there's no A/C in the apartment. Hideki goes to school early but the A/C there is down too (d'oh). Not only that, he blows a pop quiz question for the class so no snow cones. Shimbo arrives late and borrows Hideki's class notes. That night Ms. Shimizu surprisingly drops by Hideki's room to STAY OVER (!!). She's got nowhere to go, so she, Chi, and Hideki spend the night playing drinking games and Hideki struggles with some potential adult situations like kissing and her being in lingerie, or even worse! The night passes but nothing really happened, so Hideki's virginity is still intact. Ms. Shimizu and Hideki head off to school. At the school, Hideki notices that Shimbo looks extremely worn out and upset. Hideki ponders some more but as he is walking on his way home from work, he notices Shimbo and Ms. Shimizu in an embrace? And now they kissed?? Whoa! This episode is a followup to the previous situation where Hideki discovers Shimbo and Ms. Shimizu have been having a relationship. The next day Hideki discovers he has been given Sumomo to take care of. And at class, he finds out neither Shimbo or Ms. Shimizu have shown up! Later that day he gets a call from Shimbo who tells Hideki the news: he's eloping with Ms. Shimizu, not only that but she's married! Hideki's in shock and trashes his tv in the process so he ends up going to Minoru's place to continue the conversation. There Shimbo tells him the entire story of how Ms. Shimizu's husband got so addicted to persocomms to the point where he forgot she even existed and locked her out of their apartment. With Shimbo being the compassionate fellow, he begins a relationship with her and grows to love her. This culminates in the night that Ms. Shimizu and Shimbo were supposed to have the serious "define the relationship" talk, but Ms. Shimizu chickened out at the last minute, going to Hideki's instead. So the plan now is that Shimbo is with Ms. Shimizu at a hot springs resort and won't be coming back until she agrees to remarrying Shimbo. Hideki is left to ponder those results, and he asks Shimbo to tell him next time there's anything major going on. Hideki's in trouble grade-wise (he's getting straight E's now), and Ms. Shimizu advises he prepare for the national mock college entrance exam. So Hideki gets ready for studying and takes some time off of work, but then he finds out his wallet is missing. Oh great, no money means no food. No food means Hideki can't study well. Chi wants to help out by offering her paycheck but Hideki refuses, so Chi ponders some other ideas, eventually leading to trying to cook a nice meal for Hideki. Her first trial was really bad, but the second one works well thanks to landlady Ms. Hibiya's help. Hideki searches for Chi, and asks for help from Minoru. Chi's manager Ueda asks Hideki if he could talk with him about persocomms. Ueda into the story of how he got his persocomm and fell in love and married her. The story continues where Ueda's persocomm starts to degenerate and starts forgetting things but Ueda does doesn't want to replace her since that would mean she would lose her memories. In the end, Ueda's persocomm saves him from a truck collision by pushing him out of the way and sacrificing herself. Hideki is really moved by the story. Then he notices a nearby shadow move and chases after it, thinking it could be Chi's abductor. It turns out to be Yumi, who runs off. Ueda notes that as long as he's around she'll run away. Hideki continues to look for Chi. Minoru gets an anonymous email attachment (a bunch of crisscrossing lines) and shows it to Hideki. Shimbo is also back from his retreat and together they figure out the attachment is a map showing the whereabouts of Chi's abductor. After some on-line searches, Minoru concludes the abductor is a guy with code name Dragonfly, and Shimbo and Hideki search for the house. In the meantime, Dragonfly has wired Chi to all his 20 or so persocomms, hoping to learn of Chi's secrets. He doesn't get far, and reaches for Chi's special switch, but Chi realizes Dragonfly is not the "someone just for me" and goes into that protective mode where she floats and lights up. The cables connecting Chi tie up Dragonfly and shut down the nearby persocomms. Hideki and Shimbo arrive in time to find Chi in this state. Chi asks if Hideki loves her, but Hideki is puzzled. Then Chi returns to normal. Hideki and Shimbo make Dragonfly promise not to do that again and decides to hang onto Kotoko (Dragonfly's persocomm) as eyewitness evidence of the abduction. |
